ABOUT ME

since 1988…

I’ve worked extensively with people from all sectors of the community, including disabled people, people with life threatening illness, special needs, mental health issues, long-term unemployed people, young offenders, ex-offenders, probationers, young and older people.

I trained as a theatre designer (Trent Polytechnic, BA Hons) and worked in scenography, community arts and arts administration (Warwick University, MA European Cultural Policy & Administration) before becoming a full–time writer, designer and freelance producer.

I was Artistic Director of STORM theatre 1994-2001.

I was Arts Development Officer for: Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council 1999-2001 and for Warwick District Council 2002-2007.

I write for a wide variety of people and spaces. My words have been performed in theatres, art galleries and museums, community spaces, coal vaults, beneath a ring road, in an award winning bungalow and at Latitude.

I am a member of Royal Opera House’s Engender network, The Writer’s Guild of Great Britain and Bold Text Playwrights Collective.

I have been a Theatre Absolute Associate since 2015.

I co-founded Her Day Opera with Sayan Kent. I am curently Opera Buddies volunatry co-ordinator. Opera Buddies is Her Day Opera’s legacy project. The 3 main aims of Opera Buddies are: to make new friends, talk about opera & experience opera together.
